Owen is a member of New York City Gay Men's Chorus.
Owen is auditioning to be part of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus the same time as Jack, whom he ends up being in the final call-backs with. Though Owen claims he is in a long-term relationship with his high school boyfriend and constantly uses gay slang, Jack finds out that he is actually straight so Jack devises a plan to get proof and have Owen dismissed from the chorus.
With the help of Grace, Jack proves Owen is straight but in the end it becomes his word against Jack's. Owen's real sexuality is revealed to the entire chorus but the director opts to choose Owen over Jack because of the chorus' policy of tolerance.
Hey, sorry I'm late! My boyfriend is having this huge family crisis. His mother was-- Ok, I tried bangs. It backfired. —
I love to sing. I love to sing choral music. It makes me feel like I'm being gently chucked under the chin by God. But there's no room for a straight man in that world. —
