Will and his gay friends attend a cooking class. Karen's mother Lois hires Grace to renovate her apartment.
Synopsis[]
I may be tall, but I still have feelings[]

We could master-bake together!
During dinner, Will mentions that he is taking a cooking class with Larry, and Jack asks to join them, hoping to cook for his new boyfriend Stuart. At the class, Will is dismayed when Larry brings his husband Joe, and Jack brings Stuart, leaving Will alone without a cooking partner.
Just as Will is starting to feel sorry for himself, a tall, attractive man named Adam joins the class and becomes Will's cooking partner. Will's flirtatious exchange with Adam is cut short when he sees Jack handing him cash. Thinking Adam is a prostitute Jack had hired to cheer him up, Will angrily confronts them. Adam storms off and Jack reveals that he only paid Adam for the anklets he sold for diabetes awareness. A distressed Will leaves to chase Adam, after which the instructor Ann admits that it was she who hired Adam, who is actually a prostitute, for Will.
Sayonara, Mama-san[]
Karen's mother Lois visits her daughter in New York and mentions that she may need professional help in her apartment. Karen recommends Grace, and Lois agrees only if it can be done on her small budget. Grace soon regrets taking up the job when the only help she could afford is Karen and Rosario.
When the apartment is eventually finished, Lois is impressed and expresses gratitude that she finally has a home where her daughter can visit. However, when Grace mentions a neighbor who expresses interest in buying the apartment for a lot more money, Lois decides to sell it immediately.

Notes[]
- This episode is only 28-minutes. It was originally a super-sized episode, but was cut down to accommodate the preceding 32-minute "Friends" episode and so that "The Apprentice" could air at 9:00.
- This is Stuart's second appearance. This marks the first time Jack has a recurring love interest.
- Edie Falco was originally asked to play Ann, but her schedule wouldn't allow it. She was able to appear a month later as Deirdre in the episode East Side Story.
- This is the last appearance of Lois, Karen's mother, although her storyline does inspire an ongoing arc in which Will and Grace redecorate and sell apartments for profit.
- Christopher Backus who played Adam in this episode would later marry Mira Sorvino who played Diane in Last Ex to Brooklyn.
Cultural references[]
- Jack reads on In Touch Weekly magazine an article about singer-actress Mandy Moore and tennis player Andy Roddick. The two would end their relationship later that year.
- Karen also mentions actress Brooke Shields and tennis player Andre Agassi who were married from 1997 to 1999. She mentions that Shields' show stayed on the air, referring to Suddenly Susan (1996-2000), which was a ratings success despite being panned by critics. Karen also jokes about Agassi's hair, who became known for his shoulder-length mullet (a hairpiece), which he stopped wearing to sport a balder look.

Oh, please. Let me tell you something. Will Truman doesn't have to pay for it, okay? Will Truman just goes months and months at a time without it and then pours all his sexual energy into his embroidery. — Will, to Adam
