Synopsis[]

I know Will better![]

After a string of disappointing birthdays, Will is expecting more now that he has a boyfriend. Grace, in an attempt to help out, follows Vince while he is shopping for a gift. He tells her that he is planning on giving Will a key to his apartment, which Grace blows off as cheap and suggests he gives a designer wallet instead. Vince, however, brushes off her idea.

Before Vince gives his gift, Grace tries to lessen the pressure and reveals it to Will, who becomes ecstatic saying Vince's key is a major step in their relationship. However, they are surprised that Vince instead follows Grace's advice and gives Will a wallet. Will is disappointed again, so Grace goes to Vince asking him to give his key like he originally wanted.

This day is about Stanley Walker! And nobody else![]

Karen is depressed when he remembers Will's birthday is also her late husband Stan's birthday. To honor his memory, she and Jack proclaim the day is all about Stanley, in the middle of Will's birthday party.

Notes[]

  • This is the second episode to celebrate Will's birthday. The first one, Will on Ice shares a similar storyline where Will is scared of being disappointed because of a childhood trauma.
  • This episode marks Will and Vince's first onscreen kiss.
  • Will mentions being a fan of Broadway actress Chita Rivera when he was younger. Rivera appears later the season as Lenore.
  • In this episode, Jack, upon learning that Will and Stan share a birthday, comments that there must be a lot of "fatty Libras". However, Will mentioned in the Season 1 episode "Yours, Mine or Ours" that he was a Scorpio, leading to the assumption that his birthday must fall on the cusp, October 23rd.
  • Rosario serenades Will with Arthur's Theme. Jack also sang the same song for his one-man show Just Jack.

Quotes[]

Grace:You have had some lousy birthdays. Remember the year we went to James Taylor, and that drunk roadie peed on you?
Will:Ironically during "Shower the People."

Grace:Look, Will really hated the wallet. You have to give him the key.
Vince:Did he look inside the wallet?
Grace:Oh, is the key inside the wallet?
Vince:No, I put a coupon for a kiss inside the wallet.
Grace:...That is so queer.
