James "Jim" Edward Burrows is an American director who directed all episodes and one special of Will & Grace.

Will & Grace

Burrows has admitted that he loved the script for Will & Grace for being a high-concept show, having directed television before with more mundane concepts. While promoting the ninth season in 2017, he described the show as a "fairy tale, literally and figuratively" because of the four main characters who are "a little bit of a fantasy."

All members of the main cast has expressed holding Burrows in high regard, with Debra Messing describing him as a "master" and a "musician", listening more to the musicality of the comedy rather than watching it.[1] On February 21, 2016, three of the main cast (Messing only appeared on a pre-recorded message due to the snow storm in New York at the time[2]) were present during the special tribute to Burrows entitled Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows.
